The Apple* iPhone is omnipresent. It looks nice and you can do a
lot of things with it. Now it's able to do even more: control
your audio-, video- or presentation systems and
even your building easily, elegantly and securly with
CommandFusion. All you need for this is an iPhone or iPod
Touch.
With common control systems, like AVIT, AMX* or
Crestron*, even bi-directional!
You
will find more detailed information about AVIT in our product database
CommandFusion is a young, ambitious company from Australia. The company
realized soon the possibilities of the iPhone or the iPod Touch. They were one
of the first companies that offered a solution to control audio-, video- and
presentation and even buildings with Apple's* omnipresent
hardware.
CommandFuions developed a software solution, that consists of
two parts:
iViewer This application needs to be installed on
the iPhone / iPod Touch and can be downloaded from the
Apple* AppStore for free.
guiDesigner This is the actual tool, which is being
required to create user interfaces for the iViewer.
This all is only possible because Apple* also made a step forward
to standards and integrated WiFi into their hardware.
The functionality
of CommandFusion is as sample as it's ingenious. When you finished
your user interface with the help of the guiDesigner, you then define
the address of the control system there (right bottom). To get the user
interface to your iPhone / iPod Touch you need to set the address of the PC with
the user interface (left bottom). When the iViewer starts now, it will
download the user interface right from your PC, that acts as a webserver for
that moment. Alternatively you can also use a webserver directly for the
upload.
Right after the start, the user interfaces on the device now
connects to the control system via WiFi and can, depending on the
programming, control all equipment. More information can be found here: iViewer with a control system.
Alternatively you can omit a control system and control devices with an
IP-interface directly. That means you can even use also IP-Bus Devices, e.g.
from Global Caché, that
contains of IR- or RS-232-interfaces.
The principle stays the same,
besides that you do not need to set a address of your control system. Instead of
that, the commands will be asigned directly to the single buttons etc. More
information can be found here: iViewer as Standalone. The disadvantage of this solution is, that you can use
only one iPhone or iPod Touch to control. But if you use a centralized
control system (e.g. AVIT),
you can use in theory as many Apple* devices as you like.
We've shown
that all live at the ISE 2009 in Amsterdam. But of course not everybody was
able to see it there, so you can do it right here. You might also take
a look at the contrast differences at the DNP
Supernova projection in the background.
This application will be installed on your iPhone
/ iPod Touch and can be downloaded for free at the Apple* AppStore
- just search for "iViewer". With that software, you
can display any user interface you like on your iPhone / iPod Touch.
There are now limitations on your creativity. Of course page
changes will be animated smoothly in Apple*-style, there you can also
chose from different effects, e.g. fading.
The iViewer run in
fullscreen mode in your iPhone / iPod Touch and even tells your control
system its current orientation. That means you can even react on a flip of
the device and e.g. switch a page parallel on your touch panel. The
iViewer is even able to display two completly different user interfaces in
horizontal and vertical orientation.
You will receive for each
action on your iPhone / iPod Touch automatically feedback from the
iViewer, so that means you do not need to poll with your control system.
For each press of button or release you will be immediately notified, of
course as well on sliders etc.
The guiDesigner is the actual tool that is
being used to create the user interface for the iViewer. The software is
completely for free and can be download from CommandFusion, right after a
short registration.
The software gives you the possibility to
create user interfaces for the iPhone or iPod Touch with no limitations
and tranfer them to such a device. Doing that, you have all the
common tools to create a user interfaces.
You can also use the software to asign TCP-commands to user controls to
control the hardware directly. You can find more information here: iViewer as
Standalone.
guiDesigner features:
Real-time graphical user interface editor
Command & Macro editing
Built in, online updatable, library of pre-defined commands for
third party systems
To use the iViewer as standalone solution you only need an access point
and of course some network infrastructure with some devices in it, that
you can control.
Of course you can also use IP-Bus-Devices or
IP-Gateways to other interfaces, to e.g. control devices with IR- or
RS-232-interfaces. A manufacturer for such devices would be e.g. Global
Cachè.
Gateways for KNX/EIB or other bus-systems can also be
used directly, in case the protocol is open.
In combination with Global Caché you can easily control a whole living
room. How fast and easy this can be done is shown in
that Training-video here:
The software guiDesigner, as well as the iViewer itself is at first for free.
The guiDesigner can be used without any limitations, only the iViewer is limited
in case the device is not registered. That means it will only display the
mainpage and subpages or other pages. Also TCP commands are not being
sent.
If you would like to use CommandFusion, the iViewer needs to be
registered for each iPhone or iPod Touch. The exact process is discribed in the
manual here:
In case you want to get rid of
the CommandFusion Logo on the iPod Touch or iPhone, you can also get your own
OEM version with your own logo and icon. For farther informations, please
